Cork County Council appointed Priority Geotechnical Ltd. in recent months to conduct site investigations for the scheme. Works commenced on 17 January 2023. Works will include drilling boreholes, excavation of trial pits and slit trenches, geophysical scanning, sampling, testing and monitoring. The intention is to gather information on ground and groundwater conditions, which will then be used in the development of potential options for the flood relief scheme. Cork County Council have also taken the opportunity to include investigation works in this contract for the Mill River Culvert Upgrade project and a minor works scheme in Ballylickey.
