Individual Property Protection Scheme

Cork County Council in collaboration with the OPW is progressing a scheme to provide floodgates to properties identified as being most at risk of flooding in Bantry. Property Owners have been contacted and provided with agreements for signing up to the terms and conditions of the scheme. Only properties deemed suitable following an engineering assessment will be deemed eligible to receive floodgates. Following a tender process, an order has been placed for the supply of floodgates for Phase 1 of the scheme. Under this initial phase, floodgates will be provided to 20 properties. A tender process for the appointment of a Contractor to undertake accommodation works where required to facilitate the fitting of the Phase 1 floodgates has also been undertaken and the Contract signing is imminent. The second phase of the scheme will be tendered in the coming weeks.
